Vista Sidebar Weather Gadget Update

I’ve added another format that includes icons of the forecast conditions.

Simply Weather is a no-nonsense gadget that reports the current conditions and the 3 day forecast in one easy to read compact format. Actually, there are five formats so you can have it just the way you want it. Unlike other weather gadgets, there's no branding and you can even choose which weather site to go to when you double click it. No vendor lock-in like the Weather Channel and like gadgets. If you've ever had the feeling that weather gadgets are more about the gadget than the weather, then this gadget is for you.

Remember, you can change formats by holding the shift key and clicking on the gadget. The different formats are useful for displaying multiple locations. Here’s how my sidebar currently looks.

Looks like Spring is on the way here in Michigan.

The Simply Weather gadget is nice but I can't get it to move on the desktop after it's detached from the sidebar. It picks its own same spot and will stay there no matter what, except if I reattach it to the sidebar (which I never want open). There is a "Move" option in the context menu, as with all gadgets. But I never needed that to move any others. Even so, the context menu "Move" option fails; it brings up a blue plus-shaped-4-arrows movement icon that is buggy and accomplishes nothing. This is Vista Home Premium w/SP1. Any clues? Responses can go to emarell20148@spamavert.com

I've never seen this issue. There is no "move" logic in gadgets so I'm not sure what could be happening here. Has anyone else experienced these issues?

OK I have found the 'secret'... the small dotted area under the tool (settings) icon that pops out to the right of any gadget is the surefire grab spot for moving the gadget. How odd that with other gadgets I did not need to know that - but it seems sure-fire for all of them, this one included.

I didn't know or never noticed that gadgets could be moved any other way. Guess I'll have to do some investigation.

Your simply weather gadget is great. I've been using it for 2 weeks with no problems, but today the images have been replaced by white boxes with red X's inside. Please, I need those images!

Looks like Google changed the relative path of the images this morning. I'll post a fix tonight when I get home.

Not much I can do here. Like all sidebar gadgets, the height is fixed and predetermined. The local translation is to long in sections. I could force nowrap on the current conditions section where it is wrapping, but then the current condition would be cut off. There's only so much room. Would that work?

I guess those words like "Clear" "Humidity" "Wind" etc are taken from local forecast server and printed on the gadget, so shorten like Humidity into Hum. would not work. But if you pay more attention to the pic i posted above, after the word "Drėgnumas" (Humidity) the % value is wrapped, however it looks like those 48% should clearly fill into the gap, so maybe the no wrapping that part could do the trick :)

I've updated the gadget to not wrap the humidity line. The % is slightly cut off but hardly noticeable. It's available on the downloads page. The live gallery usually takes about a day to update.
